DUCKS UNLIMITED CANADA - BRITISH COLUMBIA ARTIST OF THE YEAR 1993

Joan Sharrock's painting of a raccoon received top honours in the judging at Ducks Unlimited British Columbia this year. Prints of "Raccoon on a Limb" are being auctioned at DU banquets across the province to raise funds to conserve wetlands for waterfowl across Canada. The artist was presented with a commemorative plaque at the DU Banquet at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on October 7th. A few artist's proofs of "Raccoon on a Limb" will be available for sale in June 1994

CLOSE only counts in horseshoes and hand-grenades but......... Joan Sharrock cameTHIRD in the recently judged Wildlife Habitat Canada Conservation Stamp and Print Competition for 1994, which is more commonly referred to as the "Canadian Duck Stamp Competition".


Owl painting The First Annual BIRDS IN PERIL Original Miniature Art Show and Sale was hosted at Gallerie Waterside in Richmond, BC owned by artist Colin Foo. Proceeds of the show went to the Canadian Society for Endangered Birds. Miniature works from over fifty Canadian and US artists were featured and the show later traveled to Toronto, Ontario. Artists chose subjects from the endangered species list - Joan Sharrock painted a barn owl, a hyacinth macaw and a sandhill crane.
