There are many shades of grey in the aspen forest in autumn. Here are all the shades in one great grey owl. Alighting momentarily on a leaning trunk, he blends beautifully with the similarly coloured aspen bark. One moment he is camouflaged and the next we see striking contrasts in the markings on his feathers, a flash of white and a pair of intense yellow eyes.
